The Best Golf Courses

  • The Lodge at Sea Island Golf Club (St. Simons Island): Owned by the Cloister, the most exclusive resort in the South, this widely acclaimed golf course lies at the end of the Avenue of Oaks, the site of a former plantation. Opened in 1927, the club consists of several courses, such as the 18-hole Ocean Forest (7,011 yd., par 72). It has been compared favorably to such golfing meccas as St. Andrews in Scotland and Pebble Beach in California.
