Northern Lights Saloon Review

Polebridge is where the serious Glacier outdoorspeople hang out. And the Northern Lights Saloon is where they go to have a beer and a burger. In the dictionary, under the phrase "middle of nowhere," there's a picture of Polebridge (or at least there should be). Despite that, this small restaurant, located squarely in the middle of Polebridge, gets enough customers in summer that you actually may have to wait for a table. The fact that there are only four or five tables exacerbates the problem. The customers are usually folks who have spent the last few days in the backcountry, on the river, or in one of the primitive lodging choices that Polebridge offers. The saloon is a classic Old West-style hangout. The food consists of burgers (including turkey and falafel burgers) plus other basic American grub.

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
