Frommer's Review
The Lake McDonald Lodge looks and feels like a lodge in the old style. It's small compared to the other GPI park lodges, and the ambience is altogether more cozy. Lodge rooms, located on the second and third floor of the lodge (no elevator), are pleasantly decorated and have a historic feel, while the motel units are simply well-maintained motel rooms. The well-preserved cottages are located in multi-unit cottage buildings in a wooded area. Situated on the shore of the park's largest lake, it provides a fine base for exploring the western part of the park. A center for boating activity, scenic cruises depart daily, or you can rent your own boat by the day. Common lounging areas are furnished with heavy couches, sofas, and chairs that surround a stone fireplace. All units are no-smoking.
