Frommer's Review
Next to the North Fork of the Flathead River, the North Fork Hostel is basic but laid-back and fun. Accommodations are rustic, with a mountain cabin feel--there's no electricity in Polebridge, so lighting is powered by kerosene and propane, and heat is from an old-fashioned wood stove. There are separate facilities for men and women, as well as couples' accommodations, washrooms with hot showers, and clean outhouses. There are also several small cabins suitable for families. Hostel guests should bring linens or sleeping bags (sheets are available for rent) and flashlights. The Square Peg Ranch offers two rustic log homes. The log homes have solar-heated showers or guests can use the hostel showers, and there are outhouses. The hostel and cabins have complete kitchen facilities, and you can take a relaxing soak in the hostel's 6-foot-long claw-foot bathtub. Serious bikers, hikers, river rats, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers stay here--use of mountain bikes, cross-country skis and boots, and snowshoes is included in the fee. There are some cabins and trailers in the back, just large enough to accommodate the beds that fill them.
