Frommer's Review
One of the few pre-Reformation hostelries still left in England, this inn in the center of town once offered hospitality to Glastonbury pilgrims. Its facade looks like a medieval castle, with stone-mullioned windows with leaded glass. Some rooms were formerly monks' cells; others have four-poster beds, veritable carved monuments of oak. You may be given the Henry VIII Room, from which the king watched the burning of the abbey in 1539. Rooms come in a variety of shapes and sizes, as befits a hotel of this vintage. Some bedrooms have recently been refurbished. Some rooms have just a shower, others a tub/shower combined.
