Frommer's Review
When River Klass moved here from the East Coast to open his own place, Murphys's restaurant-challenged residents heaved a sigh of relief. Its nickname is the "Rude Boy Cafe," after Klass's acerbic wit, but you'll find happy smiles and friendly service. The majority of Grounds's business is with locals addicted to the potato pancakes that come with every made-to-order omelet. For lunch, try the killer BLT with avocado on a house-baked French roll or the grilled eggplant sandwich stuffed with smoked mozzarella and fresh basil. Typical dinner choices include fresh breaded halibut with house-made lentil salsa served over garlic mashed red potatoes, or a roasted end-bone pork chop with demi glace, cannellini beans, and grilled vegetables. The wine list is impressive (and reasonably priced). The long, narrow dining rooms are bright and airy with pine-wood furnishings, wood floors, and an open kitchen. On sunny days, request a table on the back patio.
