Galerie Madoura, avenue de Georges et Suzanne Ramié, Vallauris (tel. 04-93-64-66-39; www.madoura.com), is the only shop licensed to sell Picasso reproductions. It's open Monday through Friday 10am to 12:30pm and 3 to 6pm. Some of the reproductions are limited to 25 to 500 copies. Another gallery to seek out is the Galerie Sassi-Milici, 65 bis av. Georges-Clemenceau (tel. 04-93-64-65-71; www.sassi-milici.com), which displays works by contemporary artists.
Market days in Vallauris are Tuesday to Sunday 7am to 12:30pm, at place de l'Homme au Mouton, with its flower stalls and local produce. For a souvenir, you may want to visit a farming cooperative, the Cooperative Nérolium, 12 av. Georges-Clemenceau (tel. 04-93-64-27-54). It produces such foods as bitter-orange marmalade and quince jam, olive oils, and scented products such as orange-flower water. Another unusual outlet for local products is the Parfumerie Bouis, 50 av. Georges-Clemenceau (tel. 04-93-64-38-27).
La Boutique de l'Olivier, 46 av. Georges-Clemenceau (tel. 04-93-64-16-63), specializes in olive-wood objects. They include pepper mills, salad servers, cheese boards, free-form bowls, and bread-slicing boxes. Terres à Terre, 58 av. Georges-Clemenceau (tel. 04-93-63-16-80), is known for its culinary pottery, made of local clay. This is an excellent outlet for terra-cotta pottery. Gratin dishes and casseroles have long been big sellers.
