Getting There

It's on the rail lines for local trains that head south to Villach and Klagenfurt in Carinthia. Trains depart from Salzburg for the 31km (19-mile) journey at 1- to 2-hour intervals; the trip takes 20 minutes. Railway officials refer to the village station as Golling-Abtenau. Buses depart approximately every hour throughout the day from Salzburg's main railway station (with a subsequent stop at Mirabellplatz). The trip to Golling takes about 65 minutes. For information about buses from Salzburg to the outlying regions, call the local tourist office .

Visitor Information

For tourist information, go to Verkehrsverein, Am Marktplatz 51 (just follow the signs), in the center of town. The office (tel. 06244/4356) is open in winter Monday to Friday 9am to noon and 3 to 6pm, and in summer Monday to Friday 9am to noon and 1:30 to 6pm. It's open on Saturday only in August, 9am to noon and 1:30 to 6pm.
