Fullerton Inn

More a hotel than a country inn, this lodging is in a tall building (relatively speaking) smack in the middle of Chester's one-street downtown. The lobby has the feel of an informal old roadhouse, but with its polished maple floors, a handsome fieldstone fireplace, and a piano, it's a welcoming spot. The eclectically furnished guest rooms on the two upstairs floors vary in size and decor, though most have smallish bathrooms. Since there was little soundproofing in those old homes, noises from neighbors might carry. Room no. 17, considered a bridal suite, is quiet, faces the rear of the property, and has lovely exposed wood floors and a separate sitting area. For the more socially inclined, room nos. 8 and 10 have doors onto a balconylike porch that overlooks the main street.
