Frommer's Review
With its tables usually occupied by local government officials and dealmakers, Luciano's is the grande dame of Freeport restaurants, with a very European atmosphere. It's the only restaurant in Port Lucaya offering caviar, foie gras, and oysters Rockefeller, all served with a flourish by a formally dressed waitstaff, who, fortunately, have a definite sense of charm and humor. There's a bar inside and elegantly decorated tables set in the kind of socially correct dining room you might find in Paris. Additional seating on a breezy upstairs veranda overlooks the marina. For a good opener, opt for the lightly smoked and thinly sliced salmon, seafood crepe, or snails in garlic butter. Fresh fish and shellfish are delicately prepared, allowing natural flavor to shine through without heavy, overwhelming sauces. Good examples include local grouper topped with toasted almonds and a lemon-flavored butter sauce, and broiled Bahamian lobster tail. Steak Diane is one of Luciano's classics, along with an especially delectable veal medallion sautéed with shrimp and chunks of lobster.
