Fast Facts

ATM-- The two ATMs in the park are on the South Rim at Bank One, located in Market Plaza next to the Canyon Village Marketplace, and at Maswik Lodge. Due to the limited availability of ATMs, it is best to bring sufficient cash for your trip to the Grand Canyon.

Fuel-- There is only one gas station inside the park on the South Rim. Desert View Chevron, on Highway 64, 25 miles east of Grand Canyon Village, is open 24 hours daily from 8am to 6pm April 1 through September. If you're entering the park from the south and are running low on fuel, make sure to gas up in Tusayan, 1 mile south of the park's south entrance. On the North Rim, the Chevron Service Station is open daily 8am to 5pm (7am-7pm in summer), also seasonally. You can also get gas at the general store across from Kaibab Lodge, 18 miles north of the North Rim on Highway 67.

Garages-- A public garage with 24-hour emergency towing service (tel. 928/638-2631) currently operates inside the park on the South Rim. The garage itself is open from 8am to noon and 1 to 5pm daily.

Health Services-- If you have a medical emergency on either rim, dial tel. 911 to obtain assistance from Park Rangers. On the South Rim, a health clinic (tel. 928/638-2551) is located on Clinic Road, off Center Road between Grand Canyon Village and the South Rim entrance road. The clinic is open on weekdays from 9am to 6pm, Saturday 10am to 2pm. The nearest pharmacies are in Williams, Arizona. Health services are nonexistent on the North Rim. In non-emergency situations, you'll need to drive all the way to the hospital in Kanab, Utah. North Rim emergency medical services are provided by rangers on duty.

Laundry-- Laundromats can be found inside the park on both rims. Open 6am to 11pm daily in summer (shorter hours in winter), the South Rim laundromat is in the Camper Services building near Mather Campground. Open 7am to 9pm daily, the North Rim laundromat is near the North Rim Campground.

Lost & Found-- For items lost in or near the park's South Rim lodges, call tel. 928/638-2631. For items lost elsewhere on the South Rim, call tel. 928/638-7798 Tuesday to Friday 8am to 5pm. Found items can be returned to the Visitor Center at Canyon View Information Plaza. On the North Rim, report lost and found items in person at the visitor center or at the Grand Canyon Lodge front desk (tel. 928/638-2611).

Outfitters-- On the South Rim, Canyon Village Marketplace (tel. 928/638-2262, open daily 7am-8pm in summer, 8am-7pm in winter) in Grand Canyon Village rents and sells camping and backpacking equipment. There is no equipment for rent on the North Rim, but the North Rim General Store (tel. 928/638-2611, ext. 270), usually open from 7am to 9pm, sells a very limited supply of camping equipment.

Police-- In case of an emergency, dial tel. 911.

Post Offices-- On the South Rim, the post office (tel. 928/638-2512) in Market Plaza has window hours from 9am to 4:30pm on weekdays and from 11am to 3pm Saturdays. On the North Rim, a tiny post office at Grand Canyon Lodge is open Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm and Saturday 10am to 2pm.

Supplies-- There are three grocery stores inside the park. The largest, The Canyon Village Marketplace (tel. 928/638-2262), is in Market Plaza in Grand Canyon Village. Its hours are usually 7am to 8pm in summer, 8am to 7pm the rest of the year. Desert View General Store (tel. 928/638-2393), at Desert View (25 miles east of Grand Canyon Village on Hwy. 64), is open daily 8am to 6pm in summer, 9am to 5pm the rest of the year. On the North Rim, the only provisions are at the North Rim General Store (tel. 928/638-2611, ext. 270), adjacent to North Rim Campground. It's usually open daily 7am to 9pm.

Weather Updates-- Recorded weather information, updated every morning, is available by calling tel. 928/638-7888. Forecasts are also posted at the main visitor centers.
