This is the locals' first choice for dinner and a less time-consuming option than El Tovar. The restaurant dishes up the South Rim's most consistently tasty meals. Entrees include hand-cut steaks, mustard- and rosemary-crusted prime rib, marinated chicken breast, and pan-seared salmon with melon salsa. My favorite is the baby-back ribs with prickly-pear or spicy chipotle barbecue sauce. To accompany your meal, choose from a variety of mid-priced California wines or flavored margaritas. Arriving before the Arizona Room's 4:30pm dinner opening isn't a bad idea, since the wait can be an hour long at sunset (the large windows facing the canyon are a huge draw). The restaurant is now open for lunch, too, offering a barbecue-centric menu. Consider the Serrano chicken salad if you've had your fill of beef.
