El Tovar Restaurant

One hundred years after opening its doors, this restaurant remains a memorable dining experience. Best of all is the stunning dining room, which features banks of windows at the north and south ends and Oregon pine walls graced with murals depicting Native American dances.

At dinner, a Southwestern influence spices the Continental cuisine. Consider starting with the mozzarella roulades with prosciutto, tomatoes, olives and a basil pesto. Delicious main courses include the salmon tostada served with organic greens and a tequila vinaigrette, the enormous New York strip steak accompanied by buttermilk-cornmeal onion rings, and grilled chicken with a fresh tomato ragout and feta dumplings. The French onion soup is an excellent lunch choice. At breakfast, sample the coffee -- it's the park's best -- and order the eggs Benedict with smoked salmon. All entrees are served in large portions, and children can order half-portions at discounted prices. Service is friendly and refined.
