Cobalt Coast Resort and Suites

Fans of this resort liken it to a contemporary B&B where most clients are deeply involved with diving. It's one of the best resorts for divers on Grand Cayman, thanks to the on-site, full-service dive operation (Divetech), and a deep drop-off (the North Wall), a short distance offshore, that's loaded with marine life. You have to drive through Hell to get there, though. Don't expect a sand beach: The coastline on this part of the island is infamously composed of jagged rocks, and swimmers use a series of ladders and metal steps to lower themselves into the surf. Even the diving boats have to moor at the end of an extensive pier to avoid damage. Rooms include oceanfront suites and standard rooms, which are all spacious, modern, cozy, and soothing, with Marimekko fabrics from Finland and European plumbing fixtures. On-site is a well-managed, well-run restaurant, Duppies, which serves well-prepared light fare, including platters of local food and sandwiches.
