Tokeland Hotel ReviewOn the north shore of Willapa Bay, the Tokeland Hotel has been welcoming guests since 1889. With its remote setting and simple interior decor, it feels like a genuine step back in time. Lawns surround the wood-frame inn, and beyond these lies the water. The first floor is taken up by a large open lobby and dining room, off which is a small library with a fireplace. Up on the second floor, rooms are arranged on either side of a long hall and have painted wood floors. Antique furnishings lend an air of authenticity to the inn. Shared bathrooms all have claw-foot tubs. The inn's moderately priced dining room is the most popular restaurant for miles around and is particularly noteworthy for its Sunday dinner, which includes a delicious cranberry pot roast (daily 8am-8pm; winter hours vary). Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
