The best Chinese takeout in town is at the obviously named China, 2117 Old Spartanburg Rd., on the east side of town (tel. 864/322-0405), a family-run spot that serves up deliciously fresh standards like dumplings, General Tso's chicken, and shrimp with garlic sauce. And for a drive-by caffeine fix, head over to Liquid Highway, 14 Halton Rd., at Congaree Road (tel. 864/281-9130), a drive-through coffee bar serving excellent coffee, muffins, and smoothies (the beans are for sale, too). Don't forget to check out Barley's Taproom & Pizzeria and Blue Ridge Brewing Company, two downtown bars that serve great food as well.
