To get things started, walk to place St-André, place aux Herbes, or place de Gordes. On a good night, these squares overflow with young people, and the energy level builds in anticipation of an explosion of dancing and partying.
Join fun-loving crowds of students at Le Couche Tard, 1 rue Palais (tel. 04-76-44-18-79), and the London Pub, 11 rue Brocherie (tel. 04-76-44-41-90).
For a great outdoor party, check out Le Saxo, 5 place d'Agier (tel. 04-38-37-07-49). Its patio, with speakers blasting techno and rock into the wee hours, has the feeling of a college party. If you're pumped up and need to cut loose on the dance floor, bop on over to Coco-Loco-Nae-Vas, 1 rue Lamartine (tel. 04-76-87-23-48), where the young rule. A cover of 10€ ($15) is charged Thursday to Saturday including a first drink.
Le Styx, 6 place Claveyson (tel. 04-76-44-09-99), is attuned to cutting-edge music from such centers as London and Los Angeles. Expect a mix of hip-hop, R&B, soul, and techno, but be prepared for anything. The dance floor is too small, but it's popular anyway. Young office workers head here after 5pm to sample one of 70 different cocktails, but beer and pastis are the drinks of choice.
The town's most animated gay disco is Le Georges V, 124 cour Berriat (tel. 04-76-84-16-20), which is open Wednesday from 9pm, Thursday to Sunday from 11:30pm (closing times vary).
