Gwangju City Tour Bus

This tour bus run by the city of Gwangju is ridiculously cheap (only W1,000 per person without an English guide). However, the fee doesn't include the cost of lunch (W5,000 to W6,000) nor the entrance fees to museums and experiences along the route. The courses vary depending on the season and the day, but they run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, except in the winter. The tours generally run from 9 or 9:30am to 6pm from Gwangju Station. Reservations must be made by 5pm the prior day by calling the Tourist Information Center (tel. 062/233-3399 or 062/942-6160).

Taxis in Gwangju are fairly inexpensive, costing about W10,000 to get across town. Deluxe taxis (the black ones) cost more money, of course, but the drivers tend to drive a bit slower (and safer) and they speak a bit of English.
