Frommer's Review
Opened in 1997, this luxury spa offers a green, tranquil alternative to the many massive spa hotels in the desert environment near the Dead Sea. The setting is lovely, and contributes to making this the most beautiful major spa hotel in Israel. The tastefully, freshly decorated public areas and guest rooms overlook the distant Mediterranean or the acres of woods surrounding the hotel. The big windows of some rooms look out directly onto public footpaths and lack privacy unless you close the curtains -- try for a room that overlooks the forest or the gardens. You can arrange for everything from aromatherapy, seaweed wraps, water aerobics, horseback riding, tai chi, and mountain biking to Shiatsu, Reiki, reflexology, Thai or Swedish massage, and weight loss programs. Isrotel has high standards for its special-interest properties, so you can be relatively sure of the quality of the programs. Meals are well prepared; the vegetarian buffet is near-gourmet, and filled with natural, wholesome ingredients. You really need a car to get here, so during your stay, consider that the meter on your rental car is ticking away while you luxuriate.
