In one of the most stunning rescues of a decaying industrial building in Hamburg, an old public gasworks has been recycled and given new life as a modern boutique hotel. Developers preserved as much of the industrial structure -- they call it "culture" -- as was possible when they converted it into a comfortable hotel with a mixture of contemporary and traditional design and all the amenities you'd expect from a high-end hotel. Bedrooms range from luxurious suites to classic loft spaces with exposed brick walls and mahogany furnishings. All the rooms, both public and private, are imbued with a light, intimate feeling.
