Frommer's Review
Hanoi's newest boutique property downtown is a real find. Nine floors of this compact gem overlook the southern end of central Hoan Kiem Lake. Style throughout is neat but not gaudy, inviting to luxury travelers who want to be in the middle of things but can't bear the thought of an Old Quarter minihotel (though many are upgrading, they can be pretty beat-up and rooms very noisy from the busy streets below). The Zephyr can also meet the demands of business travelers. The designers took advantage of narrow space here, creating a cozy, compact, and contemporary ambience. Thin office-style carpets in rooms are a drawback, but beds have big fluffy duvets, and the built-in wooden cabinetry is stylish. Deluxe rooms are quite large and luxurious, and two of them have balconies. Upper floors are best -- some have great views. The eighth floor is a cool lounge area with windows overlooking the city and cool, regal high-backed lounge chairs. The first-floor restaurant serves good international fare and a very good buffet breakfast. The place is like a large international hotel stuffed into the space of a Hanoi minihotel.
