Frommer's Review
This restaurant (in one of Heidelberg's most famous Renaissance buildings) is popular with students and professors, who know that they can get not only German cooking here but also the wonderful Dortmunder Actien-Bräuerei beer. You dine either in the first-class Rittersaal (Great Hall) or in the smaller Councillors' Chamber. We like the elegant larger room, with its sepia ceilings, wainscoting, and Oriental rugs. The house specialty is saddle of Odenwald venison for two (in season); when this dish is offered, locals flock here. We recommend starting with the game soup St. Hubertus with brandy foam and ending with the crêpes suzette.
