Frommer's Review
Named after the heroic female statue (the Havis Amanda) that stands a few steps from its entrance, this upscale tavern is the finest seafood restaurant in Helsinki. Located across the boulevard from Market Square, it has vaulted ceilings covered with nautical frescos and an appealing sense of solidly established calm and well-being. Established in 1973, and having moved into its present quarters in 2004, the restaurant prides itself on serving seafood primarily from Finland. Depending on the season, you can enjoy such delights as perch soup with a perch-stuffed crepe, roasted tuna with avocado and citrus, glow-fried whitefish prepared over an open fire with a puree of green peas and carrot sauce, and mushroom lasagna with parsley sauce. Dessert changes with the whim of the chef, but might include a strawberry consommé with Pernod-flavored strawberry sauce. The service is impeccable.
