Sokos Hotel Vaakuna ReviewBuilt for the Helsinki Olympics in 1952 and still going strong, this centrally located, curve-sided Helsinki hotel is atop a local landmark, the Sokos department store. Some of the rooms overlook the main rail terminal and its bustling square. Despite frequent renovations, the interior remains deliberately configured as a period piece of what Finland's superb sense of design looked like in the 1950s. The buffet breakfast is served on the 10th floor rooftop terrace. Guest rooms are midsize to spacious, with well-maintained bathrooms.
