Since its debut, Hilton Head has tended to specialize in the rental of mostly upscale, oceanfront luxury homes and villas, and prices are higher than what's available in less desirable parts of South Carolina. In recent years, however, the roster of lodgings has expanded to include some simplified economy lodgings as well. The resort boasts more than 6,000 villas, 3,000 hotel or motel rooms, and at least 1,000 timeshare units. Most facilities offer discount rates between November and March, and golf and tennis packages are available year-round.
