Frommer's Review
This beautiful traditional Japanese inn, part of which is 80 years old, has an idyllic, quiet setting. Its rooms are spread along an exquisite landscaped garden with stunted pines, ponds, tiny maple trees, stone lanterns, and meandering streams. The best rooms are elegant and private with sliding doors that open onto the main garden. (Unfortunately, some views are compromised by a tall apartment building next door.) The absolutely best view is afforded by the Tsubaki room, while the Aiyame boasts a cypress tub. The least expensive rooms, on the second floor, face the front garden and street. The ryokan is well known for its excellent cuisine, served either in your guest room or in a dining hall as per your request. You can even dine here without staying, with set meals starting from ¥10,000 ($83). Although the ryokan is a bit far from the center of town, you can catch a bus just a 2-minute walk from the ryokan that will deliver you downtown near Hiroshima's attractions. It's a great place for a splurge.
