Frommer's Review
The Sofitel hotel chain is famous in Southeast Asia for converting grand old colonials into the most charming hotel properties. This is not one of them. But what it lacks in colonial charm, it more than compensates for in modern luxury, convenience, and comfort. Guest rooms are handsome, with fine Art Deco touches like the curving, clean-lined desks in most rooms. You'll never be wanting for any amenity here, and the staff is helpful and professional. In a convenient spot just across from the former U.S. and French embassies, this is a popular choice for the international business crowd and long-stay executives, who enjoy the sleek executive floor with a private lounge, daily buffet, drinks, and business services. To date, this is the only high-end hotel offering free in-room ADSL and Wi-Fi services, a major bonus for business travelers. The hotel is away from the busy activity of the main shopping drag, but it is only a 5-minute walk to Lam Son Square. The bonus is you're away from the heavy traffic and noise.
