Frommer's Review
This downtown tower has been around for a while. In fact, it was popular for U.S. soldiers on R&R during the war years. They are in the midst of an image-changing renovation (should be done by the time you read this) and the hotel looks ten times better. The modern Art Deco décor and new windows let in plenty of light. Carpets are done in pinstripes of red, brown, and orange with solid colored cushions and footstools for contrast. Just in case they fall behind schedule, make sure to ask for a renovated room. The walls have a fresh coat of cream-colored paint, the furniture is dark wood, the thin, ratty blue bedspreads of past rooms have been replaced with cozy white cotton duvets and the bathrooms are sparkling and new.
