Frommer's Review
As the name suggests, this hotel is part of the little Liberty chain. Liberty 3 is right in the heart of the Pham Ngu Lao backpacker area and arguably the best choice down that way. But unlike the backpacker hotels, the lobby has air conditioning, which is a welcome relief after a sweaty day of touring the city. Rooms have all the amenities of a proper hotel but are priced just above the average minihotel. You'll find unfortunate thin office carpets and bland decor throughout, but everything is clean. Standard rooms are a bit too small; a superior is your best bet. Be sure to request a window and ask to see the room before checking in, as some are worse than others (and many are musty from smoking guests). The adjoining Allez Boo bar and restaurant is an old backpacker standby and now managed by the hotel.
