Wedged into an old colonial storefront area between the hulking Renaissance Riverside and the wedding cake Majestic, the Riverside is a standard budget stop. The public spaces are pretty banged and battered (worn carpets all around, a dark and not very welcoming lobby), but private spaces are expansive for the price and everything is clean. It's an old building and some rooms conform to the angled footprint in unique ways. Bathrooms are huge, plain affairs with small tub/shower units, a simple sink, and no counter space, but, again, tidy if simple. Deluxe rooms are worth the upgrade; they're much larger and have new carpet and better amenities. The leopard-skin pattern synthetic blankets are a turn off, but the dark wooden doors, wardrobes, and windows are a nice touch.
