This place hops, and jazz fans come special to get their fix from charismatic owner and mad horn blower Tran Manh Tuan, a classically trained musician who's traveled far and wide and always has good stories to tell. Local torch song artists wander in and out -- and if you're in the know they might even take you to the nearby local hangout, the Queen Bee (106 Nguyen Hue, District 1; tel. 08/829-1836), for a set or two. Ask Tuan to play his hilltribe jam, an inspired series of licks ending not with a bang but with a whimpering. With great jazz, lots of laughs, and cool people, don't miss this place. It's right around the corner from the Rex Hotel. Head over well after dinner though, as this place is pretty dead until the music starts.
