Planning a Trip

Getting There -- Hood River is on I-84 at the junction with Ore. 35, which leads south to connect with U.S. 26 near the community of Government Camp.

Amtrak offers passenger-rail service to the town of Bingen, Washington, just across the Columbia River from Hood River. The station is at the foot of Walnut Street.

Visitor Information -- Contact the Hood River County Chamber of Commerce, 405 Portway Ave., Hood River, OR 97031 (tel. 800/366-3530 or 541/386-2000; www.hoodriver.org), near the river at exit 63 off I-84.

Festivals -- The Hood River Valley Blossom Festival is held in mid-April and celebrates the flowering of the valley's pear and apple trees. In mid-October the Hood River Valley Harvest Fest takes place at the Hood River Expo Center and the Parkdale Fine Arts and Music Festival is held in Parkdale.
