Suggested Itineraries

If you have only 1 or 2 days in Budapest, you will find that historic Budapest is surprisingly small, and many sights listed in the following pages can be reached by foot from the city center. Take the time to stroll from one place to the next -- you'll find yourself passing magnificent, if often run-down, examples of the city's distinctive architecture. If your schedule allows for a few more days, we suggest adding 1- or 2-day side trips to small, quaint villages like Szentendre, Szeged, or Pécs, all within a few hours of the capital.

We encourage you to use these itineraries in conjunction with the walking tours listed in chapter 8, "Strolling Around Budapest."
