This historic restaurant, established around 1745, occupies a 13th-century building that some historians say is the oldest in Innsbruck. Inside, four intimate and atmospheric dining rooms with "19th-century neo-Gothic decor" lie scattered over two different floors. Hearty dishes include venison stew, "grandmother's mixed grill," pork chops with rice and carrots, and fried trout. The international menu emphasizes Tyrolean specialties, best seen in the dessert list, which offers two kinds of strudel and several other pastries. In summer, a beer garden operates in the rear, open daily from 10:30am to 11:30pm. A large beer costs 3.20€ ($4.15), with a glass of wine going for 3.40€ ($4.40). Sometime during the lifetime of this edition, management will change -- there could be some alterations in policies and cuisine.
