There’s no friendlier place to begin the day than at this casual eatery. Though most folks prefer mingling at the sidewalk tables, I’m fond of the delightfully air-conditioned, bright green indoor restaurant redolent with the fragrance of fresh cinnamon rolls and banana bread. No one minds if you settle in with a cappuccino and sweet treat while using the free Wi-Fi. Breakfasts are enormous and delicious, and it’s hard to choose between the French toast with wild berry compote, waffles stuffed with ham, or more traditional huevos rancheros and chilaquiles. You must try the killer lobster Benedict at least once—it’s so rich you may need to share, though you probably won’t want to. Of course, you could skip all this and just go for that sticky, fluffy cinnamon roll. Some of the island’s best burgers highlight the lunch and dinner menus. You can choose between beef, brisket, or chicken with assorted toppings, or go for the staggering selection of spicy chicken wings—I’m fond of the tequila and lime wings. Spinoff café Rooster On The Go pleases budget travelers at the nearby Poc Na Hostel with coffee, baked goods, and free Wi-Fi.
