Courier Services -- You'll find FedEx and DHL services at Bravo Center on Main Street between Avenidas 2 and 3 (tel. 757-9229; bravocenter@bocasmail.com).

Emergency Numbers -- For an ambulance, call tel. 757-9814; for fire, dial tel. 103; police, dial tel. 104 or 757-9217.

Hospital -- There is a basic hospital clinic in Bocas, located at Calle 10 and Avenida G (tel. 757-9201), with a 24-hour emergency room. However, service is limited and those with more serious health problems will need to seek medical care in Panama City.

Internet Access -- Bravo Center on Main Street has Wi-Fi service (daily 10am-7pm); or there's Internet Bocas Café (daily 8am-10pm) and Don Chicho's (daily 8am-9pm), both on Main Street. All cybercafes charge around $2 (£1) per hour. Many hotels also offer free wireless Internet.

Laundry -- There are coin-operated machines and drop-off laundry services including pickup and delivery at Bubbles on Avenida C at Main Street (tel. 6591-3814; Mon-Sat 8am-6pm).

Post Office -- The post office is located at Calle A and Avenida 2; no phone. It's run by a no-nonsense woman who maintains hours Monday through Friday from 8am to noon and 2 to 4pm (some days 3-4pm "when I feel like taking a long lunch"), and Saturday 8am to noon.
