This newer, condo-style hotel lacks charm but makes up for it with spacious guest rooms with kitchenettes. Considering that Tropical Suites rents by the night, week, and month, this is an ideal place for long-term visitors searching the area for property to buy. Half the guest rooms have sparkling waterfront views and terraces, and are absolutely worth the $35 extra per night, especially considering that other rooms face the street. Guest rooms are like studio apartments in that the kitchenette and bed are in the same room. The kitchenettes are spotless and stocked with all the utensils you'll need for cooking. There is a little less hullabaloo here than down the street, and the waterfront terraces feel more private than at other hotels. A fully stocked dock with a water slide, kayaks, and jet skis is available for guest use, and there's a small bar. The setup is perfect for families, although the fold-out couch is large enough for one child only. Rate discounts are usually offered from June to August, and there are discounts for weekly and monthly rentals. The hotel allows guests to tie their boats at their dock.
