Housed in a lovely, converted home built in 1910, this is one of the best economy hotels in Bocas. It's about a 5-minute walk on a paved road to the main strip, but there's an open-air, communal kitchen if you'd like to cook and dine in. The rooms are simple, with mosquito nets, pastel-colored walls, and polished floors. Rooms with a private bathroom cost $20 more, but they are well worth the investment because they are larger and brighter than room nos. 4 and 5, which share a grubby bathroom. The perk at this hotel is its spacious, pleasant veranda, for which the hotel is named. It's a very relaxing place, giving travelers on a shoestring a place to just sleep, while they do their unwinding elsewhere.
