Frommer's Review
Located around the bend of a mangrove forest about a 5-minute boat ride south from town, Punta Manglar is suitable for those who want to be close to Bocas but spend the night in peaceful isolation. The hotel is a series of cabaña-style units perched on stilts that are linked together by a wooden walkway, meaning you can swim and snorkel just outside your door. Beyond this, there is really nowhere to walk to except their restaurant, which serves simple but good meals. There are three stand-alone cabins and two adjoined by a thin wall; all are rustic, and only one unit has air-conditioning -- the rest have ceiling fans. Bugs love mangroves, so bring repellent. Also, you must pay for a water taxi for service outside their scheduled hours. Snorkeling equipment is included in the price. Punta Manglar is owned by Bocas Water Sports, and they use this property in conjunction with their scuba and excursions packages.
