Frommer's Review
Set on the Caribbean like a hidden jewel, Villa Rolandi is a romantic escape on one of Mexico's most idyllic islands. A private yacht brings the privileged guests from Cancún directly to the hotel, which lies on a sheltered cove with a pristine white-sand beach, interrupted only by a sailboat and set of kayaks waiting to be taken to the sea. Each of the luxurious suites holds a separate sitting area and large terrace or balcony with private whirlpool overlooking the sea. Flatscreen TVs offer satellite music and movies, and all rooms feature sophisticated in-room sound systems, subtle lighting, and deep-hued Tikal marble. The beautiful bathrooms have Bulgari products and enticing showers with multiple showerheads that convert into steam baths. In-room breakfast is delivered through a small closet-like door. The luxurious hotel spa also offers an outdoor Thalasso therapy whirlpool and beachside massages.
Dining is an integral part of a stay at Villa Rolandi. The owner is a Swiss-born restaurateur who made a name for himself with his restaurants on Isla Mujeres and in Cancún (Casa Rolandi and Pizza Rolandi). This intimate hideaway is ideal for honeymooners, who receive a complimentary bottle of domestic champagne upon arrival (when the hotel is notified in advance). Service throughout this beautiful property is gracious and refined.
