More an experience than an actual attraction, Ollivander's is not to be missed. Small groups of 25 to 30 people are led into the dimly lit shop, where shelves upon shelves (most set slightly askew and scattered with dust) are filled with muted colored boxes -- each containing a wand. It takes a minute to take it all in, but do look around. A glass case (on the back wall) displays the various wands available at the shop, but unfortunately the tight quarters don't allow for much moving about. Once the door is shut, the show begins. From behind the counter, the wand-maker emerges to pick a single person from the group. It is that person who will be given several wands to try until, finally, one chooses him as its owner. With each flick of the wand comes a flurry of special effects (and while not nearly as dramatic as the effects seen onscreen, they are impressive nonetheless). Once the wand has chosen the wizard, the group then moves through the door and into the wand shop next door. Here anyone who wishes to purchase a wand (or other wizarding items) may do so.
