Vereda Tropical Hotel

This gorgeous hotel is the best lodging on Taboga. Perched high on a hill and overlooking Playa Honda near the pier, the Vereda Tropical has stunning views of the sea. (You can even make out Panama City from here.) The decor is eclectic but leans toward Mexican-style, with bold colors, ceramic tile floors, arched doorways, and swirling iron balustrades; an atrium lights the interior patio and its fountain. Rooms are decorated in a variety of styles; some open onto balconies. They all are comfy and have good beds and high ceilings. The Pelicanos Bar is on site, but the big bonus is the restaurant -- definitely the best and most atmospheric on Taboga. The view from their open-air veranda is dynamite. They serve tasty, fusion-style cuisine and wonderfully refreshing fruit drinks. Try their Vereda Tropical cocktail with passion fruit juice and seco. The menu has pastas, pizzas, and fresh seafood dishes and salads.
