A'jia ReviewThe contemporary design of this sleek and stylish romantic getaway carries this traditional Ottoman yali into the 21st century. In the 1970s, the house was converted into an elementary school (in fact, students still drop by to have a look). Accommodations are all about the views, with beds facing large arched or picture windows. Ergonometric king-size beds, oversize goose-feather pillows, and massive bathtubs beckon newlyweds. The mezzanine suite (with the tub next to the bed) is host to many a romantic interlude; the management recently obliged by pasting rose petals on the glass to spell out "will you marry me?" The hotel spoils its mostly Turkish guests with services that include in-room Thai massage, private complimentary boat shuttle, a waterfront sun deck, a butler, and a major non-sequitor: meeting facilities. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
