Caferaga Medresesi

Like the Cedid Mehmet Efendi Medresesi housing the Istanbul Handicrafts Center, this recently restored Ottoman-era seminary is now, too, the home of a handicrafts center. But the managers of the Caferaga setup have taken the concept to the next level: They run a whole slew of visitor's workshops set in and around a picturesque garden cafe. Just outside the medrese (access is down a few steps off of Caferiye Sok.) is the art gallery annex, where works created by affiliated artists (watercolors, calligraphy, ebru, abstract art, and jewelry) are for sale. Prices start around 60TL and average around 80TL to 100TL.
