I'm a sucker for black leather Le Corbusier chairs, so maybe this review isn't going to be as impartial as it should be, but the chairs do establish the hotel's position on good taste, and the theme runs throughout. With its stone facade and arched glass windows, the Marla Hotel is certainly more interesting than the high-rise genre of hotel. Rooms are of average size, inoffensively decorated in pinks and grays; the bathrooms are modern and utilitarian, and hot water is provided thanks to a rare old reliable: the water heater. The Atrium Restaurant should be up and running by the time this book goes to press, offering sunsets over the bay and traditional Turkish fare.
