Frommer's Review
This elegant inn is a superb choice for a romantic getaway. The classic shingle-style home (now swathed in light yellow siding) was designed by famed architect Stanford White in 1895, just outside Jackson's village center and surrounded by wooded hills. Inside, the place has a comfortable Victorian feel. Rooms are luxuriously appointed; you'll find it hard to leave them. Some of the nicest include the Katherine Suite, with a fireplace and two-person Jacuzzi, and the little yellow Notch View Cottage with its classic screened front porch and a double Jacuzzi with a forest view. The hospitality here is top-notch, and the main dining room's three-course dinners are among the best in the Mount Washington Valley; you're almost certain to sample it, since nearly all rates include a full breakfast, afternoon tea service, and dinner in the dining room or more casual lounge. Recently added is a quite lovely spa area with nice facilities (a wooden sauna, whirlpool-like tubs) and a full menu of services from hydrotherapy and facials to prenatal massage and yoga.
