Frommer's Review
Mount Herzl is located at the end of the Bet Ha-Kerem section of Jerusalem. It is the memorial for Theodor Herzl, who predicted and worked for the founding of Israel until his death in 1904. A large black monolith marks Herzl's interment. Herzl's wife and his parents are buried there, too. The cemetery also contains the graves of Golda Meir, Levi Eshkol, and other important leaders. The final resting place of Yitzhak Rabin is also here.
Down the road from the Herzl cemetery, inside an entrance made of orange stone, is a military cemetery for those who have fallen in the country's many wars.
The on-site Herzl Museum (tel. 02/651-1108) explores the life and work of the founder of modern Zionism with an inventive new 1-hour video production, and contains a replica of Herzl's Vienna study with his own library and furniture. No admission fee.

| Frommer's Israel, 5th Edition | |
| 0 stars | Frommer's Recommended | |
| 1 stars | Frommer's Highly Recommended | |
| 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
