Along with its neighbor Aroma, this is a stylish hangout for Jerusalem's coffee drinkers but it's also famous for terrific, Mediterranean-style sandwiches made with great breads, wonderful cheeses, herbs, spices, and other ingredients. The "Hillel" (house) sandwich consists of sun-dried tomato, fried eggplant, feta cheese, basil, and nuts; other interesting sandwich combos include salmon and smoked tuna; or omelet with goat cheese, tomato, and scallion. There are also salads, good cakes, quiches, and a soup of the day. As the place is kosher, there's no meat. Takeout makes this a good choice for picnics or a meal on a run. A second very popular branch of Hillel Espresso Bar is located at the corner of Jaffa Road and Helene HaMalka Street.
