Affiliated with the IYHA, this guesthouse and cultural center, sponsored by the World Union for Progressive Judaism, has attracted visitors of every age and faith from all over the world. The large, modern complex, designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, offers views of the Old City; a network of terraces, gardens, and courtyards; and a full schedule of lectures, concerts, and cultural activities on the premises. Rooms can be set up as dorms, family facilities for up to six people, private doubles, or even as singles. Despite the architecturally impressive building, the place can seem somewhat institutional, and with heavy use, decor in rooms is wearing thin. Dining hall meals run $13. From December 12 to January 4, visitors are charged higher summer rates. Early reservations are recommended. Call ahead for information on wheelchair access. It's heavily booked with groups in summer.
