Frommer's Review
More like a resort than a hotel, this is the only kibbutz guest facility within the reach of Jerusalem's municipal bus routes. Ramat Rachel offers its visitors a vast swimming pool (heavily patronized by Jerusalemites in summer), night-lit tennis and basketball courts, a playground, and views of Bethlehem and the Judean desert. For those who want to relax as well as sightsee, or for families with children, this is a unique choice. There are 60 newer rooms, and all rooms (including refurbished older rooms) have been brightened with colorful textile creations by noted artist Calman Shemi. Some rooms have balconies. Seven rooms are designed for travelers with disabilities, and there is wheelchair access to all hotel facilities. All dining facilities are glatt kosher. Service is above average for a kibbutz establishment.
Facilities:
Dining room; cafe; bar; Olympic pool; indoor heated pool; fitness center; spa; Jacuzzi; sauna; playground; airport transportation; business center; salon; massage; laundry service; nonsmoking rooms; 7 rooms for those w/limited mobility

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
